"DEPEND ON" The Lord for Healing Part 3

Depend On The Lord For Healing

Depend On The Lord for Healing - Part 3

- Believing And Receiving All Of God’s Benefits Includes Healing

Written by Eileen R. Jacobs

What we have when we come to Christ is a complete salvation for our spirit, our soul and our body. In this article, we continue to look at the promises God has made regarding healing, so there is every reason for our heart to believe and receive the healing God has provided through the finished work of Jesus Christ. Here is another one of my personal favorite Scriptures for forgiveness, healing, life, prosperity and longevity. Meditate on this one and receive it as a fourth witness. (See more in Depend on the Lord for Healing - Part 1, and Depend on the Lord for Healing - Part 2 if you missed reading them).

"Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And all that is within me, bless His holy name.
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget none of His benefits;
Who pardons all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases;
Who redeems your life from the pit,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion;
Who satisfies your years with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle." - Psalm 103:1-5

          We are going to start by meditating on just the first five verses of this incredible Psalm. Read it over and over again until your heart feels warm on the inside. This is just the beginning of a list of things that the Lord has done. These first five verses tell us of His benefits. According to the Psalmist, these are benefits that we are not to forget. I say it again...we are not to forget these benefits!

          When did God do all these things: pardon all my iniquities, heal all my diseases, redeem my life from the pit of destruction, crown me with loving-kindness and tender mercies, and satisfy my years with good things, so my youth is renewed like the eagles? I look at my life and I wonder, "Lord, when did you do these things for me?" The answer, of course, was when He went to the cross and suffered in my place. As God Himself stepped into my place and became sin, my sin, and took the punishment that was due me, this is when I was pardoned, this is when my diseases were healed, when I was redeemed and crowned, when I was enabled to be satisfied with good things, when my youth was renewed like the eagles.

          Again, I look at my life and the circumstances around me and I respond, "Lord, if you did all these things for me and these are Your benefits, I want to enjoy these benefits right now and all the time. Yes, Lord, I want to benefit from these benefits." So if I am sick, how do I receive this promise, the one that declares that all of my diseases are healed? The answer is simple...with my heart, I believe it! I simply believe it, because God said it.

          If God says something in His Word, it is so... and we are called to believe it. We do not want to be like Adam & Eve, who doubted God's Word when the lying devil came to question the validity of what God had said. We are all reaping the consequences of that temptation. You may think that it is difficult to believe that ALL of your diseases have been healed when symptoms are causing your body to ache. Believe me that I understand when your body is screaming louder than the promise. Let me ask you a question...Did you believe the doctor when he or she reported that you were sick? That was easy enough! You may have been able to see evidence of your sickness, or maybe you could not see it at all, but either way, you believed the report that was given based on some evidence. In the same way, you examine God's Word, find the evidence that healing is for you, and you believe the report that is given.

          It may seem easier to believe in what you see and feel, or what the doctor tells you. Yet, whose word is more sure, God's Word or the doctor's word? Who created you, God or the doctor? Let me be very clear here...I'm not telling you to ignore the facts, but I am telling you that if you can take the doctor's word at face value, then you can take God's Word and give it even more value. Symptoms are facts that are temporal and subject to change, but God's Word is truth and eternal. Psalm 103:3 says that He heals ALL your diseases. You can simply take God at His Word and believe that you are already healed simply because God says so. This is why God sent His only begotten Son into the world...to save you and give you life. Life is the opposite of sickness, disease and death. Listen, God wants you well! He is the One who crowns you with loving-kindness according to Psalm 103, and He has deep love and compassion on you. He wants your years to be satisfied with good things, not negative, painful things.

          I hope you will also join us today in blessing the Lord as Psalm 103 says to do. The "Theological Wordbook of the Old Testament" says that the Old Testament Hebrew understanding of the term to "Bless" means "to endue with power for success, prosperity, fecundity, longevity, etc." This was true for all those who God blessed in the Old Testament. But how do we endue God with power for success, prosperity and so forth, when we have no power within ourselves to bless Him? I am so glad that this Scripture tells us how...we are to use everything within us to never forget what He did for us. This is good, old fashioned faith, right here! With all of our soul, which is our mind, will and emotions, we bless Him by never forgetting His benefits to us. We can follow this prescription which says...

"Through Him then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name." - Hebrews 13:15

          When you hear good news, that is grounds for shouting! Start praying your way through Psalm 103, while blessing the Lord with all you have within you. It may sound a bit like this...

"Father God, I thank You that you have forgiven me of all of my iniquities, that is for everything that has not been right with me and everything for which I am guilty. Thank You that You took them all away when Jesus offered Himself as the punishment for all of my sins, guilt and shame. I understand that the punishment that was due to me, Jesus took upon His own self. Thank You that even right now I am free of every stupid deed or thought I have even done this day and everyday. Jesus' act on my behalf was enough forever! Your grace sounds almost unbelievable, but I choose to believe it."
"Father God, I thank You that in that same act that Jesus did for me at the cross, all of my sicknesses were taken away and no sickness, disease or pain has any claim to me now that Jesus has set me free! Thank you Jesus for suffering in my place."
"Father God, I am so glad that Jesus redeemed me with His precious blood, and paid the price for me so I will never be in the domain of darkness again, nor will my life ever be found in the pit of hell. I praise you that I am safe and secure in the kingdom of Your beloved Son, Jesus"
"Father God, I am so thankful to be crowned and surrounded by Your loving-kindness. Ephesians 2:7 promises me that your purpose in raising me up with Christ was to show how rich You are in grace, and to show kindness to me in Christ. I thank You that You are always showing me Your love and always bringing to me acts of kindness and mercy. Whenever I am experiencing troubles and trials, Your compassion is there to lift me up and save me. Thank you that I cannot get away from Your goodness."
"Father God, I thank You so much that You satisfy me. You are the reason my life is full of such good things. I count my blessings right now and I praise You for every little thing I can think of... (you fill in the blank!)"
"Father God, I thank You that every day I am getting stronger and stronger. Thank You for renewing my youthfulness. Every time I think of the eagle, it reminds me that I get new feathers to fly higher and higher in Your perfect plan for my life. You are a good Father and I bless you for all these things."

          Did you know that we actually endue the Lord with power through our faith in Him. This is how we can receive every good thing He has made available to us through Jesus Christ's sacrificial atonement. It would be like me plugging my computer into the wall socket. I enable the power when I connect with the wall socket where the power is housed. However, we can only receive what we are aware of, through the true knowledge of Jesus and The Father. Everything is made available to us through faith in His precious promises. This is how we receive of His divine nature...We come to the knowledge of Him and we believe in His promises.

"May grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.
His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence,
by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire." - 2 Peter 1:2-4 (ESV)

          Friends, if you are sick today or suffering with a terminal disease or pains from some accident or affliction, find the promises of God regarding healing and believe them. Take hold of every one of God's promises, seizing them because they belong to you as a believer in Christ. Meditate on these promises and let them take root in the good soil of your redeemed heart. Read God's report aloud over yourself and your circumstances, until His report becomes the dominant report in your soul. If you can so easily accept and believe the natural facts or the doctor's report, you can trust that as a child of God, you have the Holy Spirit's empowerment and faith to believe God's good report, the true report, the eternal word of reality for those who will believe...It is the Gospel!

Isaiah 53 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)

"Who has believed (trusted in, relied upon, and clung to) our message [of that which was revealed to us]? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been disclosed?
For [the Servant of God] grew up before Him like a tender plant, and like a root out of dry ground; He has no form or comeliness [royal, kingly pomp], that we should look at Him, and no beauty that we should desire Him.
He was despised and rejected and forsaken by men, a Man of sorrows and pains, and acquainted with grief and sickness; and like One from Whom men hide their faces He was despised, and we did not appreciate His worth or have any esteem for Him.
Surely He has borne our griefs (sicknesses, weaknesses, and distresses) and carried our sorrows and pains [of punishment], yet we [ignorantly] considered Him stricken, smitten, and afflicted by God [as if with leprosy].
But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole.
All we like sheep have gone astray, we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord has made to light upon Him the guilt and iniquity of us all.
He was oppressed, [yet when] He was afflicted, He was submissive and opened not His mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so He opened not His mouth.
By oppression and judgment He was taken away; and as for His generation, who among them considered that He was cut off out of the land of the living [stricken to His death] for the transgression of my [Isaiah’s] people, to whom the stroke was due?
And they assigned Him a grave with the wicked, and with a rich man in His death, although He had done no violence, neither was any deceit in His mouth.
Yet it was the will of the Lord to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief and made Him sick. When You and He make His life an offering for sin [and He has risen from the dead, in time to come], He shall see His [spiritual] offspring, He shall prolong His days, and the will and pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in His hand.
He shall see [the fruit] of the travail of His soul and be satisfied; by His knowledge of Himself [which He possesses and imparts to others] shall My [uncompromisingly] righteous One, My Servant, justify many and make many righteous (upright and in right standing with God), for He shall bear their iniquities and their guilt [with the consequences, says the Lord].
Therefore will I divide Him a portion with the great [kings and rulers], and He shall divide the spoil with the mighty, because He poured out His life unto death, and [He let Himself] be regarded as a criminal and be numbered with the transgressors; yet He bore [and took away] the sin of many and made intercession for the transgressors (the rebellious)."

          If you have never believed in Jesus Christ for your soul's salvation, I encourage you to do so right now. In the same act of dying on the cross for your body to be redeemed from sickness and disease, Jesus set your soul free from sin and all of it's punishment. The message of the cross of Christ and His resurrection from the dead is "good news" that you don't want to miss out on. If you will believe entirely the report (above), the Word of God through Isaiah the prophet, about Jesus Christ the Messiah, the Word of God says that you have eternal life. Friend, simply believe and be saved, and begin enjoying a guilt-free relationship with the God of Heaven through our Lord Jesus Christ. For additional encouragement, I encourage you to read "Get Saved Now...Ask Questions Later!" May all the blessings and benefits of God be upon you and your families!
