Discovering Grace Weekly #1

Luke 12

11-23-2020

Dear Friends,

I believe the Lord will be uncovering some things shortly that may be disconcerting for Americans and the rest of the world, and many may find hard to believe. Be of good cheer, though, the Lord promises that those who have lied to our fellow Americans will not go unpunished. Here are two very strong words of the Lord against those who are false witnesses.

"A false witness will not go unpunished, and one who declares lies will not escape." (Proverbs 19:5 NASB)

"A false witness will not go unpunished, and one who declares lies will perish." (Proverbs 19:9 NASB)

At first glance, this may not seem like grace. Yet, we must remember that grace must be received. (Romans 5:17) Even those whose sin is deception and lies can receive forgiveness by grace through faith in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. Through a union with Jesus Christ, they can receive power to turn from their wicked ways and walk in His righteousness in honesty and truth. (Romans 6) And for this reason, I encourage all of us as believers in Christ to pray for all people, including those in high ranking positions. It is God's will that all are saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. (1 Timothy 2:1-6)

However, it is also justice for the Lord to expose darkness and to allow justice to be served.

"When justice is done, it is a joy to the righteous but terror to evildoers." (Proverbs 21:15 ESV)

"Carefully determine what pleases the Lord. Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them. It is shameful even to talk about the things that ungodly people do in secret. But their evil intentions will be exposed when the light shines on them, for the light makes everything visible. This is why it is said, “Awake, O sleeper rise up from the dead and Christ will give you light.” (Ephesians 5:10-14 NLT)

"A false witness will not go unpunished...!" From the perspective of God, those who deceive, lie, steal and cheat will either be punished by the Law of God or they will be punished through the substitution of another (ie. Jesus Christ, the Messiah). From the perspective of mankind, all uncorrupted laws and justice ought to be served against lawbreakers for the sake of the freedom of the people to live and function in peace without fear. Just as God does not judge differently by class, social or financial status, station or position, justice ought to be served equally for all men are created equal.

Please continue to pray that truth will be evident, that deception and ungodliness will be uncovered for all to see, and pray for those involved in every instance of false witnessing that they be brought to account. Finally, pray for those involved that their conscience will direct them to come humbly before God and receive the grace that has been provided through salvation in Jesus Christ.

If you have felt weary of all the false information being pummeled at us through the media and have felt sad of heart at all that is happening, especially in America right now, I want to encourage you with another awesome truth.

"...Deeds that are good are quite evident, and those which are otherwise cannot be concealed." (1 Timothy 5:25 NASB)

I truly believe that our Lord is hearing and answering the prayers of the righteous in this very critical time of American history (Proverbs 15:29), so keep the faith that all that has been hidden and done wrongly in secret will be exposed by His light.

Have a blessed Thanksgiving,
