The Greatest Father In The World

The Greatest Father In The World

The Greatest Father In The World

- Come To The Heavenly Father Who Loves You

Written by Eileen R. Jacobs

For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!” - Romans 8:14-15

In a reminiscent conversation with my mother this week, she amused herself in reminding me of my two best friends growing up. Pixie and Dixie and I went everywhere together: to the park, to the market, to my grandmother's house. There wasn't a day that went by that we didn't play together. We reached great heights on the park swing set. We played for hours in my room. There was even a place set at our dinner table for them. They knew my greatest secrets and we talked about everything. They were faithful to listen to me no matter what mood I was in. Though I couldn't see them, these two little mice were the best friends I had.

Alright, so I had an active imagination as a child! When we are children, our creative minds have a way of imagining the best possible scenarios and creating the best possible relationships. I didn't have too many friends, so invisible mice were the best I could do. Today, I still have an invisible relationship. It is with the one true God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. I can't see my God, but I know that He is real. His activity in my life is evidence of His existence. But the real solid evidence lies in the historical account of His Son Jesus in His physical body on the earth, and the eye-witness reports of all that He said and did. Through the Word of God, I can know and understand my God and Father with accuracy, because His Son, Jesus Christ came to this earth to make Him known, in His character, in His love and in His power and glory.

No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.” - John 1:18 (NIV)

In the Old Testament, Moses had wanted to see God in His glory, but God only revealed to Him the back side of His glory. (Exodus 33) I believe God was saving the revelation of His full glory for the time when His Son would be revealed. On this side of history, we experience the full glory of God in the face of His Son Jesus Christ.

And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.” - John 1:14

For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give us the Light of the knowledge of the glory and majesty of God [clearly revealed] in the face of Christ.” - 2 Corinthians 4:6 (AMP)

Jesus even said to His disciples, “He who has seen Me has seen the Father.” (John 14:9) Though we cannot see God, we can know what He is like by observing closely the character, the activity and the love of Jesus as revealed in the Bible account. There is much we can learn about God by observing Jesus. However, you can cognitively know much about a person and still not have a vibrant and thriving relationship with them.

To learn the secrets of a thriving relationship with God, we look to Jesus again.

Who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men.” - Philippians 2:6-7

He lived in total dependence upon God while He was on earth demonstrating the kind of relationship we would be able to have once He had died for sin, and removed the barrier that once separated us from God. His dependence on God was grounded in one very important thing. He knew how much His Father loved Him. Divine love was the key to their relationship!

Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.”- John 17:24

The most perfect relationship ever to be seen by humanity was between the Heavenly Father and the Son. Jesus didn't just come to reveal what God is like, but to reveal what His "Father" is like.

...and I have made Your name known to them, and will make it known, so that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.” - John 17:26

What is your relationship with God like? Do you see Him as Almighty God, only? Sovereign Majesty on High or The Holy One? God is all these things and more, but the name Jesus came to reveal was “Father.” Not just Father, but “Abba Father.” The word “Abba” is transliterated from Aramaic, and it means more accurately: “Father, my Father.” It's very personal! Vine's Expository Dictionary states that “Abba is the word framed by the lips of infants, and betokens unreasoning trust.” No matter what kind of relationship you may have had with your earthly father, The Heavenly Father wants you to be able to have unreasoning trust in Him. He wants to become the Greatest Father in the World to you.

If you have believed in the name of Jesus and have received Him as your Savior, then you have become God's child and He wants a trusting Father - Son (or daughter) relationship with you. He wants to provide for your every need, just like a loving father would. He wants to fix all of your ouchies, just like a loving father would. He wants to lavish upon you the richness of His inexhaustible love for you, just like a loving father would. Do you know how much He loves you? Do you see Him as a loving Father who would never hurt you , but only wants the best for you? Will you allow Him to love you like a loving father would and receive all He has to give you?

If you have never had such a relationship like this before, come to the Father through believing in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” - John 14:6

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” - Romans 10:13 (KJV)

Friend, I encourage you to come. Come to the greatest relationship you will ever have. Come to the Father through believing in His Son Jesus. You will never experience love in any other thing than what love actually is. Love is God and God is love! Come receive salvation through the Son of God, and the Father will receive you as His very own child. You will be given His love toward you, and His heart of love for you to love others. You will be given His Spirit to live inside you and to guide you and comfort you in your walk of life. You will never live in fear again. You will have been adopted into God’s family and His family is “Big.” You will be able to call Him “Abba,” because you’ll finally have one solid relationship built on unrelenting, unreasoning trust and faith.

“For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!” - Romans 8:14-15

Dear Friend, if you have never placed your faith in Jesus Who wants to become your personal Lord and Savior and to place you in right relationship with the Greatest Father in the world, I’d like to show you how you can do this right now. It is as simple as lifting up your voice to the Lord and saying…

Father God, I receive Jesus as my Savior and Lord. I understand that He died for my sin at the cross as my substitute. I thank You that You raised Him from the dead, so I would be justified (declared no longer guilty) in Your sight. I receive Jesus’ righteousness as my gift. I believe I can now live in Your eternal life and rest that my sins, sickness and diseases have been permanently taken away by Jesus Who has set me totally free. I desire to live the rest of my life for You, while enjoying all of Your precious promises to me. Thank You Father and Jesus Christ, my Lord. Amen!”

Growing up with invisible mice friends was short lived. Praise be to Jesus, though, for making it possible for me to have a real and personal relationship with the invisible God; My God...My Father. Thank you Jesus for showing us, in Your Word, how to have a living and perfect relationship with our loving Father; the best Father we will ever have.

Now that, dear friends, is GRACE!

For this reason I bow my knees before the Father,
from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name,
that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man,
so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love,
may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,
and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.” - Ephesians 3:14-19

Note:

One last note...if today you received Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, we encourage you to write the date down somewhere important to you. Many people like to write the date of their salvation on the inside cover of their Bible. I can’t stress enough how important this is to do. Not only does it help you remember the day you became a Child of God, but it is a marker of your New Birth like a birth certificate, which is a legal proof of your existence. This marker is important because, whether you know it or not, there actually is a devil. Since he is a spirit, he has an ability to speak to our minds by way of deceptive thoughts. I can almost guarantee that there will come a time when a suggestive thought will come to your mind that will cause you to question whether you are really saved or not. This is where that date recorded or marker or New Birth certificate becomes important. You can simply go back to your Bible or wherever you wrote it down, and remind yourself or say to the devil...”Nope, you’re wrong! This date is the day I received Jesus, the day of my New Birth, the day I became a Child of God, the day I was saved, the day my name was written in the Lamb’s book of life...end of discussion!”

Finally, we would love to know that you have joined the family of God. We are so excited for you and we want to keep you in our prayers. Email us to let us know!
